Fonterra Steps Up Efforts to Support Good Nutrition in SL with “National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition”

Fonterra Brands Lanka’s contributions to the “National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition” has entered an impactful second phase, with contributions topping 280,000 milk packs, to support good nutrition in Sri Lanka. Social responsibility is important to us and, thus, we are proud that this initiative has evolved into an ongoing project that is making a significant difference within the communities we serve.
Building upon the success of the first phase, which provided Rs174 million worth of milk powder to 70,000 families, phase two takes another leap forward. Accordingly, the 2nd phase of the project aims to benefit an additional 70,000 families by distributing 140,000 milk packs topping Rs 350 million. As a result, in just one year, our contributions have exceeded 280,000 milk packs.
Beyond its monetary value, this project is helping to support good high-quality nutrition in Sri Lanka with every milk pack. This initiative also works to support local dairy farmers, and improve Sri Lanka’s dairy supply chain.
Fuelled by Fonterra’s dedication and commitment towards public-private collaboration, the “National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition” remains an ongoing effort to ensure a brighter, healthier tomorrow for all Sri Lankans, through good and adequate nutrition.

Fonterra Steps Up Efforts to Aid in Challenging Circumstances with the “National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition"

Fonterra Brands Lanka’s contributions to the “National Integrated Mechanism for Food Security and Nutrition” has entered an impactful second phase, with contributions topping 280,000 milk packs, to assist and ensure food security for vulnerable families in Sri Lanka. Spearheaded by Fonterra, a corporate leader in social responsibility, this initiative has evolved into an ongoing project that is making a significant difference in the lives of thousands.

Building upon the success of the first phase, which provided Rs174 million worth of milk powder to 70,000 families, phase two takes another leap forward. Accordingly, the 2nd phase of the project aims to benefit an additional 70,000 families by distributing 140,000 milk packs. As a result, in just one year, the initiative’s total contribution exceeds 280,000 milk packs, emphasizing its substantial impact.
Beyond its monetary value, this project addresses the presently critical concern of food insecurity in Sri Lanka, where 17% of families have been deemed “food insecure” by the World Food Programme, in the wake of the Great Economic Crisis of 2022. By consistently providing high-quality dairy nutrition, Fonterra’s commitment aiding during challenging circumstances is evident in every milk packet distributed. The distribution effort of the 2nd phase, which begins September 15th, marks a practical step forward towards a healthier society. The initiative also works to support local dairy farmers, and improve Sri Lanka’s dairy supply chain.
